Our approach
We believe that a healthy community requires public engagement that supports and embraces the community’s racial, cultural, and socio-economic complexity. In an effort to ensure accessibility and input from the community and participants, we base our culturally responsive outreach strategies for engagement on three pillars: 1) building intentional partnerships with community organizations that are accountable to residents where arts education is lacking and bringing our programs directly to them 2) using professional development to serve communities that we cannot reach directly 3) establishing direct communication with families to build trust, connection, and be responsive to their needs.
Our programs
We offer programs at community centers and schools for all ages from children to seniors. Our professional development classes are for anyone interested in fusing dance into their program.
Professional Development - Dance Infusion Program (DIP)
DIP PROGRAM
Over the years we have seen schools desiring to implement arts programs in an affordable and sustainable way. SBDI Dance Infusion Program™ enables teachers to infuse dance into their curriculum to help children learn and grow by empowering them to believe in themselves, develop their ability to work in a team, and establish their personal standard of excellence.
SBDI Dance Infusion Program™
The SBDI Dance Infusion Program enables physical education and classroom teachers to use the benefits of dance in their teaching curriculum. Training teachers in this new approach allows schools to enhance their Arts curriculum as well as fulfill Physical Education minutes. This course provides teachers the confidence, a structured methodology, and ready-to-use tools to incorporate dance into their classroom.
The SBDI Dance Infusion Program is a two-day training in which SBDI Teaching Artists take physical education and classroom teachers through SBDI’s proven teaching methodology.
Participants will:

SBDI Residency
SBDI Programs for Children
SBDI programs for children can run either a full year for an entire grade level, or a shorter residency depending on the needs of the community center or school. A full year program usually runs with weekly classes for the school year. SBDI Teaching Artists serve an entire grade level during which children experience an immersion in dance and music to promote exploration, creativity, teamwork and dedication. A mid-year assembly and a final performance for classmates and families provide structure for the year. Residency’s are programs that are less than a year and are flexible depending on the schedule, ultimate goal for the program and budget. All programs are on the site of the organization providing easier accessibility to participants.
